How to read the dates
Weekly options expire every Friday, so the monthly date is simply the Friday that is also the last day for the standard monthly contract. A small group of products, SPY and QQQ among them, also list expirations every trading day. Quarterly dates fall on the third Friday of March, June, September and December, when index options and futures contracts also expire.
The only date in this table that moves is June 2027. Friday, June 18, 2027 is an exchange holiday because Juneteenth falls on a Saturday, so that month’s contract expires on Thursday, June 17.
Exchange holidays that can affect expirations
For the period above, the regular full-day closures are Good Friday (April 3, 2026 and March 26, 2027), Memorial Day, Juneteenth (June 19, 2026 and the observed Friday, June 18, 2027), Independence Day observed (Friday, July 3, 2026 and Monday, July 5, 2027), Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (December 25, 2026 and the observed Friday, December 24, 2027). Always confirm the dates with the exchange calendar before trading around a holiday.
What time the options stop trading
Equity options normally stop trading at 4:00pm Eastern on the expiration date, and many ETF options trade until 4:15pm Eastern. Your broker sets its own cutoff for exercise instructions, so check its rules. The article on what time options expire covers the details.
This calendar is educational. Exchange schedules can change, and individual contracts can have different expiration rules. Confirm every date with your broker and the exchange. Trading involves risk of loss.
